Escher shows its support for 3rd joint SAPOA issue - 2010 FIFA World Cup

The Southern African Post Office Association (SAPOA) has launched a stamp to celebrate the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup which will commence in South Africa on 11 June.

The series was designed by Anja Denker, a specialist philately designer from Namibia, and features an image of football players, a ball, the national flag of each country as well as the official 2010 World Cup mascot, Zakumi.

The stamp series is an exclusive gold foil souvenir sheet, consisting of nine postage stamps, a First Day Cover and information sheet. The souvenir sheet will be available in the participating countries in their denomination, and will also be on sale at post offices.

Escher Group, whose counter automation technology is deployed in Mauritius, South Africa and Zimbabwe, donated t-shirts for local children to wear at the official launch in Mauritius of the souvenir sheet. Of the thirty-two countries participating in the Finals, Escher Group’s Riposte® software is deployed in ten of those countries.
