WebRiposte™ provides a foundation for developing and deploying e-business applications in a secure, highly scalable, transaction-processing environment

Boston, Mass. - July 24, 2001 - Escher Group Ltd, a leading provider of peer-to-peer messaging and data management solutions, today announced that Singapore Post will be upgrading to the WebRiposte™ platform for its counter automation system. WebRiposte is Escher's Web-enabled, peer-to-peer, distributed messaging solution that includes content distribution and storage. For Singapore Post, WebRiposte provides a clear migration path toward Web-based applications. These applications can run seamlessly alongside existing Riposte® applications, but more importantly, they can be deployed beyond counter automation networks into other parts of the enterprise, over the Internet, and even into customer and partner organizations.

"We selected WebRiposte because it is built on the proven technology platform contained in Riposte, " said William Tan, CEO of Singapore Post. "WebRiposte is the logical next step in our IT strategy as we continue our commitment to using the most advanced technologies available to meet our customers' needs."

Singapore Post has been a customer of Escher Group since 1996. At that time, Escher's flagship messaging product, Riposte, was chosen to automate 300 counter positions within 64 post offices. The countrywide rollout was completed in three months, drastically increasing Singapore Post's capabilities in record time.

WebRiposte is built upon the core-messaging infrastructure that has been deployed in the Riposte product line. With WebRiposte, customers maintain the benefits of a high-volume, fault-tolerant, distributed, transaction-processing platform while gaining support for Internet standards and a full set of XML-messaging and content delivery services.

"Singapore Post has embraced emerging technologies as part of their business strategy for sometime now," commented a spokesperson for Escher. "WebRiposte's full support for open standards, such as XML, enables the development of new business applications and processes that were previously difficult or impossible to perform due to hardware and software incompatibilities. WebRiposte will enable Singapore Post to continue offering their customers leading-edge services."
