Escher Group's intelligent document technology featured in worldwide direct mail campaign

Boston, Mass. - May 19, 2000 - Escher Group Ltd, the world's leading provider of e-commerce solutions to the postal industry, today announced another great landmark in postal communications - the world's first ever global mailing using a full color electronic stamp.

Escher's RiposteDispatch™ technology is the latest advance in Internet postage - allowing enterprise mailers and consumers to securely purchase and print postage from the Web, choosing from a full selection of colorful postal indicia (electronic stamp). Unlike other indicia technology currently available on the market, Escher's solution preserves the philatelic advantages of traditional postage while creating a host of new marketing opportunities for postal authorities and customers.

At the heart of RiposteDispatch and featured on each envelope is Escher's "intelligent document" technology, RiposteMark™ the world's first process-color digital postmark to be approved as a form of postage. RiposteMark's "smart" security offers unprecedented protection against counterfeiting and fraud.

Singapore Post was the first postal authority to introduce Escher's RiposteMark technology and the two organizations have joined forces to successfully deploy this intelligent document mailing, the first of its kind. The RiposteMark indicia incorporates Singapore Post's unique branding, the end result a striking and colorful mail piece that is secure and easily identifiable. Singapore Post processed the mailing at its central sorting facility and the mail pieces have been distributed to recipients in over 150 countries worldwide.

"Singapore Post is proud to be a part of this initiative which is clearly ahead of its time," commented Lee Cheng Chin, director of electronic post, Singapore Post. "It is our goal to stay on the cutting-edge of technology and Escher Group has proven its dedication to innovation and leadership within the industry."

Escher Group's campaign coincides with the 160th anniversary of the world's first postage stamp, the Penny Black. "The introduction of the Penny Black was revolutionary in the 1840's as it truly changed the way in which people communicated," commented a spokesperson for Escher Group. "In today's digital economy, where physical media is converging with electronic commerce, technological innovation is necessary in order to transform and enhance new methods of communication. Escher is committed to the development of advanced technologies, such as RiposteMark which is proving to be a revolutionary concept in postal communication," he conlcuded.
